Frequently Asked Questions
Is a PERSONAL CHEF really affordable?
Yes! With our personal chef service you can enjoy delicious healthy meals in a matter of minutes. You have to buy groceries in any case, and very often food and produce gets thrown away, because it is not used in time. Many frozen convenience food really taste like nothing and the portions are skimpy with more sauce than anything else. Their fat and sodium content are also extremely high – so in other words they are not healthy or good for you. How much money do you spend on take-out or eating-out at restaurants, or even on Doctor’s fees or medical bills, because of health problems resulting from poor eating habits? If you add it all up, using the services of a Personal Chef may save you money. This will not be an extra expense on your monthly budget, but will in fact replace many of the expenses that you already currently incur.
What is the difference between a PERSONAL CHEF and a CATERER?
A Personal Chef provides a whole service package. They will custom design meals for you and your family, do all food purchases for you, come to your house and prepare your meals or cook for your dinner party or special event in the safety of your own home. A Caterer usually does big functions, cooks out of a commercial kitchen and usually has preset menus from which you choose. A Personal Chef is very flexible, more service orientated and specializes in designer family meals. A Caterer focuses on the large scale, whereas a Personal Chef specializes in small scale designer meals and entertainment.
How is a PERSONAL CHEF SERVICE different from the new SUPPER CLUB concept ?
The supper club concept has several major franchises currently operating in the U.S. The corporate office develops a menu of approximately 12 items that changes monthly. The franchisee then offers the set menu at a storefront location--much like how a franchised restaurant offers a corporate-developed menu. The franchisee then provides the prepped ingredients for the set menu, which costs approximately $200. The customer schedules a time with numerous other people to assemble the meals at the storefront location which takes approximately two hours. The customer then takes the assembled ingredients home and cooks the meals. If you require more than 12 dinners each month for your family, you do the same 12 meals all over again.
Although the supper club concept works for people who still have the time to assemble ingredients and cook their meals, an in-home personal chef service is highly personalized and the personal chef does everything for you. The personal chef works with their client’s schedules and strives to meet the individual needs and preferences of each client and their family members. All the client has to do is heat and enjoy delicious, home-prepared custom meals.
How often will we need your service?
We’ll be happy to help you determine just how often you will want to schedule the Personal Chef Service to best serve your needs. You may want to use our service for every day of the week, or have us cook for you every second week or perhaps you just want to use our services once a month to have meals on hand for those evenings when you need help. We will make sure it supports your busy lifestyle without putting any pressure on you.
Which containers do you use and how will my meals be packaged?
Depending on your needs, I can package your food in disposable or reusable containers. This will be discussed during your Client Assessment. There is a one-time start-up fee for the purchase of quality re-usable food storage containers, such as Pyrex, Corning, Rubbermaid, etc. The cost of containers will be determined by the plan and the size that you purchase. This usually ranges from $75 to $125. Should you prefer disposable containers an additional container charge will be added to each cook date.
How do I pay for the service and am I locked in for a period of time?
A check for the personal chef service in addition to the grocery deposit and the charge for containers will be required in advance of the first cooking date. Payment is required in advance because I am reserving an entire day for you. Because our relationship is based on mutual trust, please have a check ready for me when I arrive on each subsequent cooking date. It is not necessary to commit yourself to the service by signing a contract for a period of time. Our mutual arrangement can be terminated by either of us at any time with one week’s notice.
